Reparations and Transitional Justice

This website is a database containing legal, academic, and testimonial data, media sources and syllabi on reparations given to Indigenous communities from the governments of Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This database has been funded by York University's DARE program 2022.

This website was created to provide members of York University with resources to educate themselves and others on Indigenous legal studies in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The sources that are provided are geared towards the reparations the Canadian, Australian and New Zealand governments have taken to amend the historical treatment enacted at the hands of these governments to Indigenous communities. These reparations refer to the multigenerational damage and loss the Indigenous community experienced, and continue to fall victim to, as a result of colonization. This research project was directed by Nergis Canefe, SJD., Ph.D. (photographed) and her student research assistant,  Julia Cesario.  All images used on this website are copyrighted by Nergis Canefe.
